A 23-year-old unemployed man will be charged for allegedly assaulting and molesting a nine-year-old girl in Rawang, Selangor, police confirm

SHAH ALAM: A 23-year-old unemployed man detained for allegedly assaulting and molesting a nine-year-old girl in Rawang will be charged in court by tomorrow.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the charge will be brought at the Kuala Kubu Bharu Magistrate’s Court under Section 325 of the Penal Code.

“I have been informed of the arrest and the investigation papers are complete and I have received instructions to proceed with the charge,” he said at a press conference at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters.

“If there are no obstacles, the charge will be carried out either today or tomorrow.”

Hulu Selangor district police chief Supt Ibrahim Husin had earlier said the local man was detained on suspicion of assaulting and molesting the girl.

Police received a call regarding the incident at 8 pm on Jan 29, which occurred as the victim was heading to a night market with her siblings.

The suspect, who tested positive for drugs, is unemployed.
