Fire destroys six houses in Kampung Terengganu, Teluk Intan, affecting four families with 21 victims relocated to relief centre.
TELUK INTAN: Six houses along Jalan Mak Intan in Kampung Terengganu were completely destroyed by a fire that broke out shortly after midnight.
The Perak Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call about the incident at approximately 12.40 am.
A team of firefighters from the Teluk Intan Fire and Rescue Station responded to the scene within five minutes.
They were assisted by personnel from the Hutan Melintang Fire and Rescue Station along with volunteer fire brigades from Teluk Intan and Batu 12.
The blaze destroyed approximately 90% of the property and also involved three motorcycles.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported from the incident.
Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by about 1.12 am.
The fire was completely extinguished by 3.05 am after extensive firefighting efforts.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation by authorities.
Meanwhile, the Perak State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat confirmed that 21 victims from four affected families have been relocated.
These victims are now staying at the temporary relief centre established at the Teluk Intan Municipal Council Hall. – Bernama
