Sabah flood evacuee numbers hold steady at 5,017

Flood evacuees in Sabah remain at 5,017 across 32 relief centres in three districts, with weather warnings for thunderstorms issued for interior areas.

KOTA KINABALU: The number of flood evacuees in Sabah remained unchanged at 5,017 people as of this morning.

The Sabah Disaster Management Secretariat confirmed the figure in a statement, noting little change from the count recorded last night.

A total of 32 temporary relief centres are currently operational across three affected districts. The district of Pitas continues to host the most evacuees, with 2,701 people seeking shelter.

Paitan is accommodating 2,071 evacuees, while Tawau is providing for 245 individuals. Flooding has impacted 86 villages across these areas.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a forecast for thunderstorms. These are expected in several interior areas of Sabah this morning, afternoon, and evening.
