Miri police cripple a drug trafficking syndicate, confiscating syabu, ketamine and other narcotics worth over half a million ringgit.

MIRI: Police have dismantled a drug trafficking syndicate following a raid that netted narcotics valued at over RM500,000.

The operation took place in the Riam area of Miri on October 19 at 8.20 pm.

A police team arrested a 25-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman inside a rented room.

Further inspection led to the seizure of 1.02 kg of syabu, 1.98 kg of ketamine, and 3.3 kg of Erimin 5.

Authorities also confiscated 15 millilitres of liquid ecstasy and cannabis, with the total drug value estimated at RM509,525.

“Also confiscated during the operation were RM2,800 in cash and a Perodua Myvi car believed to have been used for drug distribution activities,” said Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah.

He stated that initial investigations revealed both suspects were active suppliers who obtained their supply from other syndicate members for distribution around Miri.

Mohd Farhan said the seized drugs could cater to about 14,131 users.

The male suspect has a previous record related to drugs.

Both suspects have been remanded for seven days to assist with investigations. – Bernama
