Russia says air defence units destroyed 17 Ukrainian drones overnight, with one civilian hospitalised in Bryansk region from the attacks.

MOSCOW: Ukraine has targeted Moscow with drone attacks for the second consecutive night according to Russian officials.

The Russian defence ministry stated its air defence units destroyed 17 Ukrainian drones overnight.

One drone was flying towards Moscow while thirteen were eliminated over the Kaluga region bordering Moscow.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed emergency services responded to the site where the drone heading towards Moscow fell.

No damage was reported though Russia rarely discloses the full impact of Ukrainian strikes unless civilians are involved.

Russia’s air defence destroyed the remaining three drones over the Bryansk region bordering Ukraine.

Bryansk region governor Alexander Bogomaz reported one civilian was hospitalised as a result of the attack.

Both sides deny targeting civilians despite thousands of deaths in the conflict.

Russia previously stated it downed 34 Ukrainian drones targeting Moscow on Monday. – Reuters
