Three cops may face charges over alleged extortion and molestation

Three policemen accused of extorting and molesting a female student may be charged, with suspension pending prosecution directive.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have completed their investigation into three officers accused of extorting and molesting a female student.

The investigation paper was referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office today for further action.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the three personnel remain on duty but are not involved in field assignments.

“They are currently assigned to temporary internal duties while awaiting further instructions from the DPP,” he stated.

Fadil emphasised that police will not compromise with any officer who violates the law or tarnishes the force’s image.

Appropriate action will be taken based on investigation findings and the prosecution’s directive.

The first suspect may face charges under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outrage of modesty.

All three suspects could be charged under Section 384 of the Penal Code for extortion.

Disciplinary investigations against the three members are also being conducted by Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standards Compliance Department.

Previous reports claimed a female student and her boyfriend were detained by police at Jalan Sentul Pasar on September 17.

The student alleged she was told to have sex with an officer or pay RM10,000.

She also claimed to have been molested by one of the police officers during discussions. – Bernama
