Powell denies affair claims

AMERICAN actor Glen Powell has dismissed rumours surrounding his connection with Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney while promoting their latest film.

Powell and Sweeney are co-stars in the upcoming romantic comedy Anyone But You, depicting two individuals on holiday in Sydney, Australia, who, despite their mutual dislike, find themselves unable to avoid each other.

Amid the film’s production and subsequent promotional activities, photographs and videos capturing the two actors’ interactions sparked rumours among fans, suggesting a potential romantic involvement.

Additionally, the speculation about an offscreen romance between the co-stars intensified when it was noted that Powell had parted ways with his ex-girlfriend, Gigi Paris, around the same time the movie was being filmed in the spring.

“When all that stuff happened, you know, publicly, it felt disorienting and unfair,” the Top Gun: Maverick star said in Men’s Health’s December cover story.

“But what I’m realising is that’s just a part of this gig now.” Powell’s remarks followed comments made by Sweeney in an August interview, where she suggested that any perceived romantic connection between them was simply for the purpose of their work.

Despite the rumours, Sweeney remains committed to her engagement with Jonathan Davino, her romantic partner since 2018.

“It’s a romcom,” she told Variety. “That’s what people want. Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much – he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker.”

She commented on the media controversy regarding their relationship,“They want it. It’s fun to give it to ’em.” The movie Anyone But You is slated to be released in theatres on Dec 22.
