PH secretary-general says seat distribution for Sabah state election almost complete, with only one constituency still under negotiation.
KUALA LUMPUR: Negotiations between Pakatan Harapan and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah for seat distribution in the upcoming Sabah state election are nearly finalised.
PH secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail confirmed that only one seat remains to be determined between the coalitions.
He revealed that PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and deputy president Nurul Izzah had discussions with Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and GRS secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
“The purpose of the meeting was to finalise the seat-sharing process and I can say that between the two of them, these have already been completed, except for one,” Saifuddin stated.
He added that minor details still need to be ironed out for the remaining constituency.
Saifuddin made these comments after witnessing a memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between the National Registration Department and the National Population and Family Development Board.
Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri was also present at the event.
Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan had previously finalised their seat distribution to avoid clashes in the Sabah election.
Hajiji dissolved the Sabah State Legislative Assembly on October 9, triggering the state election within the 60-day constitutional requirement.
The Election Commission has set November 29 as polling day, with nomination day on November 15 and early voting on November 25. – Bernama
