Loud explosions heard across Gulf capitals amid Iran attacks

Residents and reporters report loud explosions in Doha, Dubai and Abu Dhabi as Iran launches barrages, with Dubai citing air defence interceptions.

DOHA: Loud explosions were heard across the Gulf capitals of Doha, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

AFP reporters and residents reported the blasts as Iran pressed a campaign of missile and drone barrages across the region.

Journalists heard loud explosions reverberating in the Qatari capital and in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

Two residents also told AFP they heard explosions in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi.

Dubai authorities later said the explosions heard across the city were caused by “interception operations” by air defence forces.

“The relevant Dubai teams continue to closely monitor the situation and are taking all necessary measures to ensure public safety,” the Dubai media office said in a statement.
