KUALA LUMPUR: Young Malaysian chess prodigy Genivan Genkeswaran, aged 16, has become the champion at the 19th Asian School Chess Championships 2025.

The competition concluded recently in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Genivan secured first place in the Under-17 Open category, outperforming participants from 16 different countries.

Competing nations included Australia, China, Russia, India, Indonesia, Korea, Singapore, and Vietnam.

His remarkable victory earned him the prestigious FIDE Master title directly from the International Chess Federation.
