Home Ministry’s enforcement under Act 326 seized nearly 57,000 texts, opened 302 cases, and facilitated over 75,000 Quran exchanges last year.
KULIM: Enforcement under the Printing of the Qur’anic Texts Act 1986 (Act 326) netted nearly RM2 million last year, covering inspections of more than 12,000 premises nationwide.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the operations, conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) Enforcement and Control Division, resulted in the seizure of 56,946 Qur’anic texts and reading materials, with 302 investigation papers opened.
“These outcomes reflect the core functions of KDN’s Enforcement and Control Division, which is tasked with preserving the sanctity, authenticity and accuracy of Qur’anic texts in Malaysia.
“This is achieved through the regulation of the publication, printing, importation, sale and distribution of mushaf and Qur’anic materials under the provisions of the Act 326,” he told reporters here last night.
Saifuddin Nasution added that the regulatory framework is further reinforced by mandatory security hologram stickers, which have been in effect since 2010, to ensure every mushaf on the market has undergone proper validation.
In a related development, he said the ministry approved 1,050 final proof certifications for printed mushaf, digital content, and audio materials, ensuring only verified and authorised Qur’anic texts enter the domestic market.
Beyond enforcement, he noted that the proper disposition of damaged mushaf was also prioritised. On Feb 15, nearly 3.5 tonnes of Qur’anic texts and materials damaged by floods in Perlis were ceremonially handled under established procedures and guidelines.
Meanwhile, the Jom Exchange Al-Quran (JEQ) programme, launched in 2023, has convened 723 sessions nationwide, facilitating the exchange of 75,614 copies of damaged, outdated, or uncertified Qur’ans for new KDN-approved mushaf.
“Following this success, the Enforcement and Control Division was also recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for The Largest Quran Exchange,” he said.
He added that KDN will continuously enforce Act 326 to preserve the Quran’s sanctity and authenticity.
Earlier, he attended the 2026 Kedah state-level Virtue Cultivation programme and Nuzul Al-Quran celebration, organised by the KDN’s Enforcement and Control Division.
