KUANTAN: More than 200 summons were issued to 156 motorcyclists for various offences in a special operation conducted in Tanjung Lumpur here, yesterday.
Kuantan district police chief ACP Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali (pix) said a total of 161 individuals, who included the pillion riders, were checked during the operation, conducted since 8.45pm following a tip-off.
He said the summons were issued for, among others, riding without a valid licence, riding a motorcycle with no registration number and plate or with small registration number plate.
âA total of 35 motorcycles were sealed for unlawful modification,â he told reporters after the operation last night.
During the operation, he said a police sergeant was injured on the leg in an attempt to stop a motorcyclist from evading the roadblock.
However, the motorcyclist managed to flee, he added. -Bernama
