Suspended policewoman Inspector Sheila faces new investigation for allegedly obstructing officers during Jalan Ipoh traffic stop of foreign driver.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have opened an investigation against suspended officer ‘Inspector Sheila’ for allegedly obstructing officers during a traffic stop.

The incident occurred along Jalan Ipoh on Tuesday evening when officers were checking a foreign driver operating a vehicle without a licence.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said Sheila suddenly approached and accused the officers of threatening the 34-year-old Pakistani driver.

“She accused the officers on duty of not knowing the law, ridiculed their actions and claimed they had threatened the foreign driver,” he stated.

Police officers involved subsequently lodged a formal report about the confrontation.

The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from performing duties.

Authorities are also investigating under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act for insulting behaviour.

Earlier, a video uploaded by Sheila went viral on social media platform where she made allegations against the officers.

Sheila Sharon Steven Kumar has been suspended from the police force since June 23, 2023.

Her suspension resulted from several previous cases including allegedly insulting a police officer and threatening an elderly woman. – Bernama
