Tunku Azizah launches national culinary skills standards in Lipis

Tunku Azizah launches NOSS for culinary arts, highlighting healthy Malaysian cuisine and new book on traditional Pahang dishes.

LIPIS: The Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, launched the National Occupational Skills Standards (NOSS) for Culinary Arts and Gastronomy here today.

She was welcomed by Deputy Minister of Human Resources Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad and State Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Biotechnology and Education Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Soffi Abd Razak.

Tunku Azizah remarked that the uniqueness of Malaysian cuisine, born from cultural diversity, deserves global recognition.

“Our cuisine also features many healthy dishes such as kerabu, which uses no oil, and dishes that are grilled, boiled or smoked, all of which are nutritious,” she said.

She announced plans to publish a book on healthy traditional Malay cuisine from Pahang and palace kitchen dishes.

The royal visitor toured exhibition booths and presented appreciation certificates to NOSS development panel members.

Over 300 students and culinary industry practitioners nationwide attended the programme.

Organised by the Human Resources Ministry through the Department of Skills Development, the event brings skills development closer to the people.

It highlights JPK’s role in empowering Technical and Vocational Education and Training in culinary arts and gastronomy.

The programme also creates awareness of career opportunities available in these fields. – Bernama
