Perlis Regent says upgrading Territorial Army assets is key strategy to strengthen operational capability and readiness of Malaysian Army Reserve Force
ALOR SETAR: Upgrading Territorial Army Regiment assets is a key strategy to strengthen operational capability and readiness of the Malaysian Army Reserve Force.
Perlis Regent Brigadier General Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said the initiative covers improvements to facilities, equipment and integration of new technologies.
“This upgrade is vital to ensure the Territorial Army remains fully prepared to support the Malaysian Army in any mobilisation,” said the Regent, who also commands the 504 Territorial Army Regiment.
He spoke at the UniMAP Reserve Officers Training Unit regimental dinner attended by Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Hajah Dr Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra stated the Territorial Army Regiment stands ready for mobilisation in emergencies, wartime or modern security operations.
“The Territorial Army provides expertise in intelligence, logistics and local defence, establishing it as a vital component in enhancing national defence readiness.”
As UniMAP Chancellor, he noted the university is now exploring aeronautics to support military needs and operations.
“This involvement exemplifies seamless integration between defence components and the public sector in advancing holistic defence strategy.”
The Regent encouraged young officers to join Territorial Army Regiments in their areas after commissioning.
Continued involvement ensures continuity of discipline, patriotic spirit and commitment to national defence.
Such engagement reinforces personal character and leadership skills developed during training.
It also boosts national defence readiness and strengthens holistic integration of national security.
“In line with the Whole-of-Government, Whole-of-Society concept, young officers’ engagement is pivotal in enhancing national defence holistically.”
This approach requires active participation of all society sectors and government agencies to maintain peak national readiness. – Bernama
