PM to discuss cabinet reshuffle and minister’s resignation

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will brief cabinet on reshuffle and Ewon Benedick’s resignation during Tuesday’s meeting.

SHAH ALAM: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will hold a briefing with the Cabinet on Tuesday to discuss a Cabinet reshuffle.

Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu confirmed the Prime Minister is also expected to explain the resignation of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.

“I heard through the news about Ewon’s resignation, but this Tuesday there is a Cabinet meeting and we will listen to an explanation by the Prime Minister,” Mohamad said.

He added that the Cabinet would discuss the reshuffle during the Tuesday meeting.

Mohamad declined to comment further on the matter when met at the wind up session of the 2025 Amanah National Convention.

When asked about the political impact, he said Ewon’s resignation would not affect Pakatan Harapan in the upcoming 17th Sabah state election.

Ewon announced his resignation yesterday, citing his principles and stand relating to Sabah’s entitlement to 40% of federal revenue collected from the state. – Bernama
