Ruben Dias says Manchester City live for big moments after a 3-0 victory over Liverpool closes gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal to four points
MANCHESTER: Manchester City captain Ruben Dias declared his side were back to their best after a commanding 3-0 victory over Liverpool.
The win at the Etihad Stadium closed the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal to just four points.
City finished a distant 13 points behind Liverpool last season in their first trophyless campaign for eight years under Pep Guardiola.
However, significant refreshment across the past two transfer windows has restored City as genuine title contenders.
Guardiola marked his 1,000th match in management in style with goals from Erling Haaland, Nico Gonzalez and Jeremy Doku.
The result inflicted a fifth defeat in Liverpool’s last six Premier League outings.
“Obviously very happy for him (Guardiola). We live for games like this. There is no higher level than this kind of level,” said Dias.
The Portuguese defender highlighted the collective sacrifice and readiness of every player to perform for the team.
He recalled observing these winning details at City before joining the club himself.
Dias acknowledged the ongoing rebuild discussed since last season, noting new faces have replaced departed stars.
He emphasised that the squad’s underlying quality remains constant as they continue pushing for success. – AFP
