Senior ministry official on leave amid misconduct probe

Senior ministry official placed on leave as investigation into alleged misconduct begins.

PUTRAJAYA: A senior ministry management official has been placed on immediate leave following misconduct allegations, according to Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.

The decision was made to facilitate an immediate investigation into the matter.

“I have been informed of an allegation of misconduct involving a senior management officer in one of the ministries,” Shamsul Azri said in a statement.

“Accordingly, the officer has been placed on immediate leave while an investigation into the matter is carried out.”

He confirmed that if the officer is found guilty, disciplinary action will be taken under the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.

Shamsul Azri stressed that the government would not compromise on any breach of governance or misconduct involving public officers. – Bernama
