REMBAU: A 25-year-old man with a learning disability died when fire destroyed his family’s semi-permanent house at Kampung Seberang Batu Hampar last night.
The Rembau Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call about the incident at 10.57 pm.
Only the victim and his 59-year-old father were home when the fire broke out.
The father reported being awakened by several small explosions and seeing flames coming from his son’s room.
He managed to escape the rapidly spreading fire but suffered minor burns to his head.
Rembau Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Muhamad Khairul Yahaya confirmed the victim’s remains were handed to police for further action.
The cause of the blaze and estimated losses remain under investigation. – Bernama
