Muhyiddin’s RM432.5 million corruption trial set for March 2026

Former PM Muhyiddin Yassin’s corruption trial over RM432.5 million in alleged bribes and illegal proceeds will begin in March 2026 with 29 hearing days

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s corruption trial involving RM432.5 million will commence in March 2026.

The High Court has scheduled 29 hearing days spanning from March through August next year.

Judge Noor Ruwena Md Nurdin fixed the dates after both prosecution and defence teams reached mutual agreement.

“The next case mention is set for Nov 27,” the judge stated, adding that November 18 will hear Muhyiddin’s passport release application.

Deputy public prosecutor Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin confirmed the prosecution plans to call approximately 30 witnesses.

Muhyiddin faces four counts of power abuse for soliciting RM232.5 million in bribes linked to the Jana Wibawa project.

The charges involve three companies – Bukhary Equity Sdn Bhd, Nepturis Sdn Bhd, and Mamfor Sdn Bhd – and businessman Datuk Azman Yusoff.

The alleged offences occurred at the Prime Minister’s Office, Perdana Putra, between March 2020 and August 2021.

The 78-year-old Pagoh MP also faces three charges of receiving RM200 million in illegal proceeds.

These funds were allegedly transferred by Bukhary Equity Sdn Bhd into Bersatu’s bank accounts between February 2021 and July 2022.

Muhyiddin was both Prime Minister and President of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia during the alleged offences.

The former premier was absent from today’s proceedings after receiving a court exemption.

His representation to drop all seven charges was rejected by the Attorney General’s Chambers on August 22 this year. – Bernama
