IGP urges sustained action to tackle corruption in police force

IGP Mohd Khalid urges stronger anti-corruption efforts in PDRM after 79 police-linked MACC cases were reported.

KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail has called for sustained intervention to address integrity issues within the Royal Malaysia Police.

He revealed that 79 out of 1,022 corruption cases reported to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission from January to September involved police personnel.

“This is a stark reminder for the force to strengthen its culture of integrity and tighten internal oversight,” he said at the Reject Corruption recognition awards ceremony.

Mohd Khalid confirmed the Integrity and Standard Compliance Department has opened 1,523 disciplinary investigation papers, including 47 corruption-related cases.

He said PDRM is developing its Organisation Anti-Corruption Strategy based on the National Anti-Corruption Strategy to strengthen governance.

The IGP urged all departments to collaborate in developing a comprehensive anti-corruption strategy for the police force.

“Let us continue to strengthen preventive measures and instil a culture of integrity at every level,” he urged.

Mohd Khalid commended JIPS for PDRM winning the Silver Award at the 2025 Integrity, Governance and Anti-Corruption Award.

He said this achievement proves PDRM is on the right track in strengthening policies and integrity-building initiatives.

Earlier, he presented Reject Corruption certificates to 41 officers and Integrity Awards to eight others who refused bribes ranging from RM200 to RM250,000.

“You are all the best role models to be emulated,” he told the award recipients. – Bernama
