Rapper Namewee released on police bail until Nov 26 as investigation continues into Taiwanese influencer’s death, with no current links to cause
KUALA LUMPUR: Rapper Wee Meng Chee, known professionally as Namewee, has been released on police bail pending completion of a post-mortem report.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed the investigation paper was referred to the Kuala Lumpur Prosecution Director’s Office today.
“The investigation paper will be referred again to the Kuala Lumpur PPN office once the report is received,” he said in a statement.
Namewee was released on bail until November 26 while authorities await the full post-mortem report on Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yun Hsin.
The 33-year-old influencer’s body was discovered in a Jalan Conlay hotel bathroom on October 22.
Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar stated yesterday that investigations remain ongoing with further instructions issued to police.
He confirmed there were currently no indications linking Namewee to the cause of the woman’s death.
Namewee had been in remand since November 5, with his detention extended by three days until today. – Bernama
