Luqman Hakim’s return to Harimau Malaya squad delights teammates

Defender Harith Haiqal welcomes Luqman Hakim’s return to Harimau Malaya squad ahead of Nepal Asian Cup qualifier, praising team commitment

KUALA LUMPUR: Defender Harith Haiqal Adam Afkar expressed delight at striker Luqman Hakim Shamsudin’s recall to the Harimau Malaya squad.

The Negeri Sembilan FC forward returns for Malaysia’s Asian Cup qualifier against Nepal after last playing internationally in March 2022.

Harith Haiqal believes Luqman Hakim’s presence adds value to Peter Cklamovski’s squad during their central training camp.

“Honestly, I am happy to have him back in our national team,” he told reporters.

“So hopefully he gets a chance and if he gets a chance, he will give his best.”

The Selangor FC defender also confirmed his readiness to play alongside returning teammate Matthew Davies.

Davies last featured when Malaysia defeated Vietnam 4-0 in June’s Asian Cup qualifier.

Harith Haiqal reported smooth progress in the current training camp with strong player commitment.

Malaysia previously beat Nepal 2-0 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in March.

The team currently leads Group F with 12 points, ahead of Vietnam on nine points.

Only group winners qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia. – Bernama
