Robbery suspect arrested in Klang after injuring policeman during escape

A 34-year-old man with 20 criminal convictions was arrested in Klang after injuring a policeman during a brazen escape from a petrol station

SHAH ALAM: A robbery suspect with an extensive criminal history was arrested early today following a dramatic escape that left a policeman injured.

The 34-year-old man resisted arrest during an attempted apprehension at a petrol station in Klang yesterday afternoon.

North Klang district police Chief ACP Ramli Kasa said the suspect, linked to a Subang Jaya robbery, pushed the officer and fled in his vehicle around 2.30 pm.

“He pushed the policeman, fled in his car, collided with a police vehicle, and nearly ran over the policeman’s leg before abandoning the vehicle,” Ramli stated.

The suspect was eventually apprehended at 12.45 am in Bandar Bukit Tinggi following an intensive manhunt.

Police records reveal the man has 20 previous criminal convictions and five drug-related offenses.

Authorities are investigating his potential involvement in other criminal activities.

The injured policeman received treatment at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang and is currently recovering. – Bernama
