Budget 2026 allocations for 9 ministries passed in parliament

9 ministries’ Budget 2026 allocations approved in Dewan Rakyat, with 11 ministries and PM’s Department now completing committee stage debates.

KUALA LUMPUR: Parliament has approved Budget 2026 allocations for nine ministries at the committee stage during the sixth week of the Dewan Rakyat session.

The ministries include National Unity, Economy, Plantation and Commodities, Agriculture and Food Security, and Rural and Regional Development.

Also approved were allocations for Natural Resources and Environment, Education, Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives.

With these approvals, a total of 11 ministries and the Prime Minister’s Department have completed their Budget 2026 committee stage debates.

Sixteen more ministries are scheduled for committee stage debates next week, with the entire process running from November 5 to 27.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim attended twice during Minister’s Question Time this week.

MPs questioned Anwar about the special 40% revenue allocation for Sabah during these sessions.

“The Federal government decided not to appeal the decision regarding the special allocation of 40% of revenue to Sabah,” Anwar explained.

He confirmed that negotiations with the Sabah state government will begin immediately following a special Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister noted that negotiations could continue during the Sabah state election since they involve technical matters.

Anwar also addressed Malaysia’s role in Thailand-Cambodia peace talks during questioning.

“Malaysia only acted as a coordinator in the peace negotiations and did not set any conditions,” he emphasised.

He stated that Malaysia remains committed to regional peace, particularly as current ASEAN chair until December.

The 1MDB issue arose during sessions, with Anwar reporting positive progress in asset recovery.

“More than RM1 billion in funds recently returned to the country,” he informed parliament.

Asset recovery efforts continue through special committees handling cases in Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Two bills from the Ministry of Human Resources received their first reading this week.

The National Skills Development (Amendment) Bill 2025 and Skills Development Fund (Amendment) Bill 2025 were tabled.

The current parliamentary session continues for 35 days until December 4. – Bernama
