Selangor police confirm eHati marriage counselling founders fled Malaysia before court date, with arrest warrants issued for the couple.
KUALA LUMPUR: Police believe the married couple behind the controversial eHati marriage counselling programme have fled the country.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed the couple escaped a day before their scheduled court appearance.
“We believe they fled the country on Oct 13, a day before the charges were filed,” he told reporters at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters.
Arrest warrants have been issued after both failed to appear in court on October 14.
They were scheduled to be charged alongside another husband-and-wife pair who are health and beauty doctors.
Police have identified the country where the couple escaped and are coordinating with authorities there.
Investigations into the eHati programme have involved 95 individuals so far.
The marriage counselling programme was held at a convention centre in Section 15 here in September last year. – Bernama
