Sultan Nazrin confers state awards on 205 recipients in Perak ceremony

Sultan Nazrin Shah presented state honours to 205 individuals at Istana Iskandariah, including awards for a former assemblyman and national athletes.

KUALA KANGSAR: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, conferred state awards and medals on 205 recipients at Istana Iskandariah today.

The ceremony was held in conjunction with his 69th birthday celebration, which was officially observed on November 7.

Sultan Nazrin was accompanied by the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim.

Also in attendance were the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, the Raja Di Hilir of Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Sultan Idris Shah, and the Raja Puan Muda of Perak, Tunku Soraya Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad was also present.

Today’s recipients were part of a larger group of 238 individuals selected to receive state honours.

Heading the list of recipients was Teluk Intan Hospital’s Head of Pathology, Dr Abdul Kadir Rifaei Abd Rashid Khairi.

He was among 13 individuals awarded the Darjah Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini (PCM).

Other PCM recipients included the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry deputy secretary general Farah Adura Hamidi and the state Economic Planning Unit senior deputy director Haslinda Alias.

Sultan Nazrin also conferred the Darjah Paduka Mahkota Perak on 26 recipients.

These included Universiti Teknologi MARA deputy rector Associate Professor Dr Mohd Azian Zaidi.

A posthumous award was also presented for the former Ayer Kuning assemblyman, the late Ishsam Shahruddin.

Selama police chief Superintendent Sarudin Samah was among 14 recipients of the Darjah Ahli Cura Si Manja Kini.

A total of 39 individuals were awarded the Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perak.

This group included former national bowler Syaidatul ‘Afifah Badrul Hamidi, who was part of the team that clinched the 2017 World Championships title in Las Vegas.

Forty-six individuals were conferred the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian.

Eight individuals received the Pingat Lama Perkhidmatan.

National mixed doubles shuttlers Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei were conferred the Pingat Pekerti Terpilih.

They were honoured alongside 55 other recipients. – Bernama
