Bung Moktar faces six-cornered fight to defend Lamag seat

Sabah BN chairman Bung Moktar Radin faces six challengers for Lamag seat in state election, while Kuamut and Sukau see multi-cornered contests.

KINABATANGAN: Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin faces a six-cornered contest to defend his Lamag seat in the state election.

He will be challenged by Johainizamshah Johari of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, Salahuddin @ Saalahuddin Anoi of Parti Impian Sabah, Mohd Saifulah Lokman of Parti Warisan, Mazlin Madali of Perikatan Nasional and independent candidate Mohd Ismail Ayob.

Returning Officer Yuesri Ismail Yusof announced the candidates after the nomination process at Dewan Sri Lamag.

Bung Moktar won the seat with a 661-vote majority in the last state election against 13,859 registered electors.

In Kuamut, incumbent Datuk Masiung Banah of GRS faces an eight-way contest against seven challengers.

His opponents include Mohina Ronnie Sidom of UPKO, Ted Kelvin Sudin of PIS, John Sungkiang of PPRS, Norfaizah Chua of Warisan, Abu Bakar Ellah of KDM, Jevronnie Mandek of STAR and independent Duin Bintarang.

The Kuamut constituency has 18,228 registered voters.

Meanwhile, in Sukau, Sabah BN secretary Datuk Jafry Ariffin faces a seven-cornered race against six challengers.

He will compete against Datuk Juhari Janan of GRS, Afiq Anwari Zulkifli of PKS, Roslan Madali of PIS, Azahari Rangon of Warisan, Nordin Damit of Perjuangan Rakyat and Pengiran Petra Pengiran Asri of PN.

The Election Commission has set polling day for November 29 with early voting on November 25. – Bernama
