KOTA BELUD: Former Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia faces an 11-cornered contest for the Pintasan state seat in the 17th Sabah State Election.
The United Sabah National Organisation president is contesting under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah banner.
His opponents include Barisan Nasional candidate Tadzul Radim and Perikatan Nasional’s Awang Salleh Makmud.
Other challengers are Raplin Samat of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku and Abdullah Otong of WARISAN.
Datuk Almudin Kaida of Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat and Lomog Rudin of Parti Impian Sabah also join the fray.
Four independent candidates complete the crowded field, including incumbent Datuk Fairuz Renddan who was not renominated by GRS.
Meanwhile, the Tempasuk seat will witness a seven-cornered clash.
Incumbent Datuk Mohd Arsad Bistari from GRS faces challengers from six parties including BN, KDM and WARISAN.
Former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Salleh Said Keruak defends his Usukan seat in a six-cornered fight.
The BN treasurer faces competition from WARISAN, GRS and independent candidate Ajun Meliyon.
Eight candidates will contest the Kadamaian seat, including UPKO president Datuk Ewon Benedick.
Other Kadamaian contenders represent WARISAN, Parti Bangsa Malaysia and several other local parties.
Returning Officer Peter Jiton announced all candidate names after the nomination process at Dewan Masyarakat Tun Said Keruak. – Bernama
