Fatin Nurfatehah advances to Asia Cup women’s compound final

Malaysian archer Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh reaches the Asia Cup final in Bangkok, securing a shot at gold after a team bronze win.

NATIONAL archer Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh is one victory away from a gold medal at the 2026 Asia Cup Stage 1 Archery Championships.

The 34-year-old stormed into the women’s compound individual final after edging Individual Neutral Athlete (AIN) Mariia Dimidiuk 144-143 in the semi-finals.

Fatin Nurfatehah will face AIN archer Arina Cherkezova for the title on Friday.

Cherkezova booked her final spot by defeating India’s Tejal Rajendra Salve 147-144 in the other semi-final.

Earlier, Fatin Nurfatehah also contributed to a podium finish in the team event.

She helped the Malaysian women’s compound team clinch bronze with a shoot-off victory over Thailand after a 225-225 tie.

However, Malaysia’s recurve archers fell short of the individual finals.

Evan Rich Chong lost his men’s semi-final 3-7 to Vietnam’s Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu.

Joey Tan was defeated 0-6 by India’s Ridhi in the women’s semi-final.

Both archers will still compete for bronze medals in their respective third-place playoffs on Friday.

Evan will meet Kirill Batuev of AIN, while Joey faces Mongolia’s Baasandorj Oyun.
