DERBY: A man has been arrested after a car hit and injured several pedestrians in the city centre on Saturday evening.

Derbyshire Police said a number of people were injured, with some suffering serious wounds.

The car believed to be involved, a black Suzuki Swift, was stopped on Friar Gate at around 9.30pm.

A section of Friar Gate is expected to remain closed for some time, with the public advised to avoid the area.
