JOHOR BAHRU: More than one million Johoreans had cast their ballots by 1pm today, with voter turnout in the state election reaching 42.16%, according to the Election Commission (EC).
A total of 1,130,980 out of 2,682,642 registered voters had voted as of 1pm, surpassing the 888,605 voters (34.51%) recorded at the same time during the 2022 Johor state election.
The highest voter turnout was recorded in Semarang and Sedili, with both constituencies registering 50.5%, followed by Tanjung Surat at 48.6%.
At the other end of the scale, Penggaram recorded the lowest turnout at 32.2%, followed by Bentayan (32.6%) and Simpang Jeram (35.2%).
Polling centres across Johor remain open, with voters continuing to cast their ballots throughout the afternoon.
The EC has urged eligible voters who have yet to cast their ballots to head to their designated polling stations before polling closes.
