O’Briens Irish Sandwich Cafe Malaysia opens 37th outlet at Prince Court Medical Centre

The opening of O’Briens Irish Sandwich Cafe signals a strategic move to integrate freshly prepared, nutritious food options into spaces where wellbeing is paramount.

O’Briens Irish Sandwich Cafe today officially launched its newest outlet at Prince Court Medical Centre, marking the brand’s 37th location in Malaysia and its first within a dedicated healthcare environment. The opening signals a strategic move to integrate freshly prepared, nutritious food options into spaces where wellbeing is paramount.
Located within one of the country’s leading private medical centres, the new cafe is positioned to serve health screening patients, outpatients, visitors, families, and medical professionals seeking wholesome, convenient meals. The menu features O’Briens’ signature made-to-order sandwiches, nutrient-rich salads, wraps, and premium beverages all prepared fresh on site.

In his opening address, Mr. Brian Pua, CEO of O’Briens Irish Sandwich Cafe Malaysia, reflected on the brand’s 24-year journey in the country:

“Since 2002, O’Briens has grown step by step in Malaysia. We don’t wait for things to happen we build our own success. Every achievement today comes from the efforts of many people: our team, our partners, and our customers. Opening this outlet at Prince Court Medical Centre is special because we share the same values caring for people, promoting wellness, and providing quality food that brings comfort. In a hospital, a good meal can make someone’s day better.”

Mr. Pua also recalled his early days working behind the sandwich bar, noting that those years taught him the core principles of sincerity, hard work, and customer-first service values that continue to guide the brand’s growth.

A special highlight of the event was a symbolic photo frame installation marking O’Briens’ 37th outlet in Malaysia. In a heartfelt gesture, 54 guests each contributed a handwritten word of blessing, coming together to form the number “37” representing not just growth, but the collective support behind the brand’s journey.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Her Excellency Orla Tunney, Ambassador of Ireland to Malaysia, who shared a personal connection to the brand:

“I grew up eating O’Briens sandwiches in Ireland. What I really like about O’Briens is the choice. If you’re in a hurry, you can grab something quickly. But if there’s something you particularly want or don’t want you can ask for exactly what you want. Sometimes the doctor has advised you to eat more protein, or less of something. Here, you can see exactly what you’re getting. No mystery it’s right there in front of you.”

Also present were Ms. Tan Sok Kheng CEO of Prince Court Medical Centre, YBhg Datuk Dr. Kuljit Singh, Medical Director; Ms. Hariani Ab. Hamid, Head of Hospitality & Administration, Ms. Melissa Sandhu, Head of Commercial & Strategic Partnership; Ms. Winnie K, Ambassador of O’Briens Irish Sandwich Cafe Malaysia; and Mr. Rezman, representing the Prince Court Medical Centre outlet team.

Mr. Hazim Hassan, representing the new outlet’s operations team, offered a behind-the-scenes perspective on the brand’s commitment to freshness:

“Before I joined operations, I didn’t fully appreciate the freshness of our ingredients until I saw the process. Our team carefully washes every vegetable. Sometimes we even sort out caterpillars to make sure nothing is wrong. That’s the level of care we take.”

Guests participated in a symbolic wish-writing activity, placing handwritten messages of health and positivity onto wooden blocks a gesture representing collective contribution to the brand’s journey. The formal launch was followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a photo session, and a networking reception.

Since entering Malaysia in 2002, O’Briens Irish Sandwich Cafe has expanded steadily to 37 outlets nationwide. The Prince Court opening represents more than commercial growth, it reflects an ongoing effort to embed fresh, customisable, and health-aligned food options into everyday environments, particularly where wellbeing is the priority.
