Disabled cat rescued from Pulau Talang after kayaker’s return

A kayaker returned to Pulau Talang, Perak to rescue an abandoned three-legged cat after no help arrived

A disabled cat believed to have been abandoned on Pulau Talang, Perak has found a new home after being rescued by a compassionate kayaker.

In several Facebook videos posted by Frugal Outdoors & Camping, the account owner shared how he discovered the three-legged feline while kayaking to the remote island. The cat was found in a skinny and hungry condition.

“How did a cat end up on Pulau Talang? It’s in the middle of the sea, separated from the mainland. Did it come by boat? Or did someone bring it here? It couldn’t have swam,” he said in the video.

The man initially appealed for anyone who could help rescue the cat and transport it to the mainland, as his kayak was fully loaded with camping equipment and the cat was too frightened to stay in the container he found on the island.

“I tried to put the cat in a fish container I found on the island, but it was scared. The container wasn’t stable on the kayak either and fell off. The cat struggled, and that was before even encountering waves. It would be dangerous if the cat jumped into the sea,” he explained.

After receiving no response from potential helpers for two days, the dedicated kayaker made the decision to return to Pulau Talang himself.

“Si Talang, the three-legged cat left abandoned in the middle of the island. After two days with no response from anyone offering to help, I decided to go back to Pulau Talang,” he said.

The rescue effort touched the hearts of netizens, who flooded the comments section with praise and gratitude for the man’s determination to save the helpless animal. Many commended him for making the second trip to ensure the cat’s safety.

The cat, now named “Si Talang” after the island where it was found, is reportedly living happily with its new family.
