Bus driver remanded for four days over viral dangerous driving video

A bus driver caught in a viral video driving dangerously has been remanded for four days as police investigate under traffic and drug laws.

ALOR GAJAH: An express bus driver who surrendered to police after a video of his dangerous driving went viral has been remanded for four days.

Magistrate Teoh Shu Yee at the Alor Gijah Magistrate’s Court issued the remand order, which runs until Friday, against the 53-year-old man.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Alor Gajah police chief Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar said the suspect surrendered at the district traffic division around 12.10 pm yesterday.

Initial investigations indicate the incident occurred around 3.50 am while the express bus was travelling from Ipoh to Johor Bahru.

A one-minute and 20-second video showing the driver operating the bus unsafely went viral on social media on April 16.
