DAPSY man urges PM to drop Tok Mat over ‘backdoor’ claim

He described the actions of the Umno representatives in Negeri Sembilan as indicative of deeper concerns about BN’s reliability as a political partner.

PETALING JAYA: A DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) committee member has called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to sack Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan over allegations he backed a “backdoor” attempt to take control of the Negeri Sembilan government.

In a statement issued today, Jason Tze-Xi Nathan alleged that Mohamad who is also the Rantau assemblyman — was among 14 Umno representatives supporting a move with Perikatan Nasional (PN) to form a new state administration.

“Dapsy urges the Prime Minister to remove Mohamad from his ministerial post as he is among 14 Umno representatives backing a move with Perikatan Nasional to destabilise the state administration.

“His involvement raises serious questions over his integrity and loyalty to the Unity Government’s mandate,” he said.

Jason also called for a reassessment of cooperation between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) at both federal and state levels, cautioning that continued ties without trust could affect stability.

He described the actions of the Umno representatives in Negeri Sembilan as indicative of deeper concerns about BN’s reliability as a political partner.

“The actions of the 14 Umno assemblymen show that BN is not a genuine ally, but opportunistic — like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, ready to stab PH in the back when the opportunity arises,” he said.

He further alleged that Umno was exploiting a crisis involving the state’s royal and Adat institutions for political gain, particularly in the contest for the menteri besar post, and criticised the party’s response.

The remarks were made in response to a statement by Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki on Tuesday, who said the party respected the stance taken by the 14 assemblymen in Negeri Sembilan.

Jason also questioned Umno’s position on institutional integrity, arguing that its actions appeared inconsistent with its stated defence of the Malay Rulers.

“Is this truly for the rakyat, or merely a desperate attempt to reclaim positions lost through their own political manoeuvring, without any sense of responsibility or remorse?” he said.
