Prime Minister Anwar calls on university students to act as agents of change, rejecting racial politics and supporting social justice under the MADANI Government.

KUALA LUMPUR: University students must continue to play an important role as agents of change that bring progress and reforms to the country based on knowledge, values and maturity of thought.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said they are a source of new strength that can unite the people regardless of race, religion and background, thus rejecting narrow racial politics that only divides society and threatens the harmony of the country.

“As a result, the future of Malaysia depends on the courage and willingness of the younger generation to tear down the walls of racism in petty politics, thereby building a more united, stable and viable country,” he said in a post on Facebook today.

Therefore, the Prime Minister said the MADANI Government will continue to defend the principles of social justice that guarantee the protection and welfare of the people regardless of race or background.

“The MADANI Malaysia concept that we support emphasises the values of kindness, justice and well-being for all people across racial and religious boundaries,” he said.

Anwar said he emphasised this when he spoke at the Prime Minister’s Goodwill Session with Indian students at Universiti Malaya.

“At the event, I also announced an additional allocation of RM50 million to the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA), bringing the total allocation this year to RM150 million to empower and assist the poor and marginalised Indian community,” he said.
