A video of a man stopping traffic to rescue an injured monkey has moved Malaysians, sparking calls for stronger wildlife protection.

A VIDEO showing a man stopping in the middle of a busy road to move an injured monkey to safety has touched the hearts of Malaysians, with many calling him a true hero while urging better protection for the country’s wildlife.

In the caption, the user thanked the man for risking his own safety to help the injured animal.

“Alhamdulillah. Thank you, uncle, for saving it. May Allah make all your affairs easier,” he wrote.

The video quickly drew praise from netizens, many describing the man’s compassion as a reminder that every living creature deserves kindness.

“It’s amazing to see real-life heroes. But the wildlife needs medical attention. There’s dried blood on the road. I hope this dusky leaf monkey gets stitched up and receives some antibiotics. Thanks, brother, for saving its life,” gurujeevans commented.

“Thank you, kind uncle, for saving it. To the driver who hit this wild animal, you have changed its life forever,” hendrita.david added.

Many also expressed sadness over the monkey’s condition, believing it had been hit by a vehicle and left injured on the road.

“I hate this. Whoever hit our wildlife, please drive carefully. The other day I was in Port Dickson and saw a car hit a monkey crossing the road. It died. I’m traumatised and tired of seeing roadkill like this,” whatshemakestoday commented.

“Poor thing, it must have been hit because there’s blood on the road. Wildlife in Malaysia depends on compassionate people like this uncle. Without human kindness, these animals have no peace,” rossuraya wrote.

“The worst part is when people hit an animal and just drive away,” azizirasidd added.

The incident also prompted calls for better emergency response and medical care for injured wildlife, with many hoping the monkey would receive treatment.

“The monkey is injured. Has anyone reported this to PERHILITAN? I hate that there doesn’t seem to be an authority looking after the welfare of injured wildlife,” gingertabby29 commented.

“It needs a vet. I hope someone there had the wildlife rescue number and called for help,” trng.gn wrote.

“To the person who recorded this, please report it to PERHILITAN. Just like the injured tapir in Kuantan recently, although the response took some time, PERHILITAN eventually came. Thank you to the gentleman who saved the animal. Even moving it to the roadside was already an act of humanity,” nunnylarsen added.

User utomeareverything3 hoped Malaysia would invest more in protecting its wildlife and improving rescue efforts for injured animals.

“Isn’t there a proper organisation we can call to treat injured wildlife like this? Malaysia has so many beautiful and exotic species. I hope there will be a dedicated team to rescue and treat injured wildlife so they can be properly protected,” the user wrote.

“I wish there was an organisation dedicated to helping injured wildlife,” harvinkumar1998 added.

At the time of writing, it was unclear whether the injured monkey had been rescued or received veterinary treatment.
