EC begins issuing postal ballot papers for Sabah state election

The Election Commission starts issuing postal ballots for Sabah polls, covering three voter categories including officials, overseas voters and agency personnel

KOTA KINABALU: The Election Commission has begun issuing postal ballot papers for the 17th Sabah State Election.

The process involves preparing and reviewing ballot papers before distribution to voters.

Postal voters are classified into three categories according to the EC website.

Category 1A includes EC members, election officials, police and military personnel unable to attend early voting or polling day.

Media personnel covering the entire election period also fall under this category.

Category 1B covers Malaysian voters residing abroad.

Category 1C is designated for agency members on duty during polling day.

This includes personnel from the police volunteer reserve, fire department and maritime enforcement agency.

Prisons, health, immigration and civil defence force personnel are also included.

National disaster management agency staff and Sabah Electricity workers qualify under this category.

The EC has set November 29 as polling day for the state election.

Early voting will take place on November 25. – BERNAMA
