Sabah JKR prohibits election campaign materials at roundabouts, junctions and crossings to prevent road accidents during state election campaign
SABAH: The Public Works Department has banned all political parties from installing campaign materials at locations posing road safety risks during the state election.
JKR Sabah’s notice specifically prohibits flags, banners, posters and related items at roundabouts, road median openings, junctions, pedestrian crossings and traffic light poles.
These materials could obstruct drivers’ visibility and increase accident risks, according to the department.
“This action is important to ensure road users’ safety remains at an optimal level throughout the campaign period,” stated the notice.
Campaign materials already installed in prohibited areas must be removed immediately to prevent unwanted incidents.
JKR expressed appreciation to all parties cooperating to safeguard safety and traffic flow across Sabah.
