Iris Hsieh’s cremation took place in Shah Alam after 25 days. Parents attended via video streaming.
THE cremation of Taiwanese social media personality Iris Hsieh, aged 31, took place in Shah Alam on November 16 (Sunday), following her death in a Kuala Lumpur hotel on October 22.
Her remains had been held at the morgue for 25 days while authorities conducted their investigation into the circumstances surrounding her passing.
Family Participates Remotely in Funeral Proceedings
Hsieh’s parents did not travel to Malaysia for the cremation ceremony but instead designated legal counsel and representatives to manage the funeral arrangements on their behalf.
According to reports, the grieving parents observed the cremation service through a video link, their sorrow evident throughout the proceedings.
Legal Representative Speaks on Family’s Behalf
Chen Junda, the family’s appointed lawyer, spoke to China Press at the Shah Alam crematorium, explaining that Hsieh’s parents remain in deep mourning and continue to struggle with accepting their daughter’s unexpected death.
The attorney indicated that any future actions would be determined only after the family has had adequate time to process their loss and all funeral matters have been concluded.
The legal team and funeral service staff arrived at the crematorium at 8.30am on November 16, accompanied by two mortuary beauticians who prepared Hsieh for her final send-off.
Cremation Ceremony Details
Reports indicate that while Hsieh’s photograph was not displayed on the ceremonial altar, various offerings were present, including fresh fruits, food items, and notably, a bubble tea beverage.
The coffin was moved into the cremation chamber at 10:30am for the final rites.
Arrangements are being made to transport Hsieh’s cremated remains back to Taiwan, where her family resides.
Rapper Cleared of Connection

Investigating officers determined there was insufficient evidence connecting the rapper to the circumstances of her passing.
Following his release, Namewee addressed the incident in a social media statement, describing his attempts to assist the Taiwanese content creator, also known by her Chinese name Hsieh Yu-hsin.
“This is the first time in my life where someone died in front of my eyes. I was extremely upset, helpless and shocked. I tried my best to save her, but it was too late. The image will be etched in my mind forever,” the artist wrote.
He emphasised that despite his intervention efforts, he was unable to prevent the tragedy from unfolding.
The investigation into Hsieh’s death continues, though authorities have not released additional details regarding the cause or circumstances of her passing at the Kuala Lumpur hotel where she was found.
