PH secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution says Merotai candidate Ruji Ubi has extensive government experience and understands local needs.
TAWAU: Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has endorsed Datuk Ruji Ubi as the most competent candidate for the Merotai state seat.
Speaking at a youth programme in Merotai Besar, Saifuddin said Ruji possesses extensive administrative experience and understands local constituency affairs.
“He served as director-general of the Implementation Coordination Unit and as secretary-general of strategic ministries including National Unity, Home Affairs, and Education,” Saifuddin told reporters.
The PH leader appealed to Merotai voters not to pass up what he described as their best choice for representative.
“Give him a chance; this is an appeal we consider most reasonable,” he added, noting Ruji could easily facilitate matters between the public and government administration.
Meanwhile, Ruji highlighted that 50% of Merotai voters are under 40 years old, making youth support crucial.
“I can convey the issues facing our youth directly to the Prime Minister,” said Ruji, who also acknowledged problems regarding village gazetting and native customary land issues.
Merotai is located approximately 300 kilometres from Kota Kinabalu and is one of three state seats within the Kalabakan parliamentary constituency.
Early voting for the Sabah state election is scheduled for November 25, with polling day on November 29. – Bernama
