Moderate 5.5 earthquake strikes North Halmahera, Indonesia; no tsunami threat to Malaysia, quake occurred 105 km north of Ternate
KUALA LUMPUR:Â A moderate earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale struck North Halmahera, Indonesia, at 12.19 pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department, in a statement said that the quake occurred at a depth of 94 kilometres, about 105 km north of Ternate, Indonesia.
It poses no tsunami threat to Malaysia.- Bernama
