ikhlas.com launches inaugural half marathon to promote healthier lifestyles

Trading travel for trainers, Ikhlas is hosting its first half marathon in Shah Alam this December to get Malaysians moving and unite the community.

KUALA LUMPUR: Ikhlas Com Travel & Umrah Sdn Bhd (ikhlas.com) is expanding its role beyond travel and faith-based services with the launch of the inaugural ikhlas.com Half Marathon 2026, a new initiative aimed at promoting health, fitness and community wellbeing among Malaysians.

Scheduled to take place at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam on Dec 6, the event is expected to attract thousands of participants from across the country under the theme “Run with Purpose, Every Step Matters”.

The marathon forms part of ikhlas.com’s broader vision of creating a holistic Muslim lifestyle ecosystem by encouraging healthier living while fostering stronger community connections through sport and personal development.

Chief executive officer Ikhlas Kamarudin said the company wanted to expand its offerings beyond travel and religious services by promoting wellness as an essential part of everyday life.

“While ikhlas.com is widely recognised for serving the Muslim community through travel, faith-based and lifestyle offerings, our vision from the very beginning has been to build a holistic Muslim lifestyle ecosystem that supports the needs of Muslims across various aspects of life.

“Health and wellbeing are essential components of a balanced life. In Islam, maintaining good health is not merely a choice but a responsibility and trust that should be preserved.

“Through the ikhlas.com Half Marathon, we aim to encourage people to adopt a more active and healthier lifestyle while bringing communities together through a shared purpose,” he said.

The company said the event also reflects the growing popularity of running, particularly among younger Malaysians, while serving as a platform to promote both physical and mental wellbeing.

Open to participants of all races, religions, ages and backgrounds, the marathon aims to unite communities through a shared passion for fitness, endurance and personal achievement.

Participants can register for one of three race categories – 5km, 10km or the 21km half marathon – catering to runners of varying experience and fitness levels.

Early bird registration runs from June 26 to July 2, followed by normal registration from July 3 to Aug 16 and late registration from Aug 17 to Oct 15. Registration opens via the event’s official website on June 26.

Ikhlas.com hopes the half-marathon will become an annual flagship event that strengthens the link between healthy living, community engagement and purposeful living while creating meaningful experiences that positively impact society.

Established in October 2020, ikhlas.com is Capital A’s Islamic digital platform offering Umrah and Muslim-friendly travel services alongside Shariah-compliant offerings such as zakat, qurban, aqiqah, sadaqah and fidyah.

The platform aims to simplify Islamic obligations and travel through services built on the principles of trust, transparency and service excellence.
