IPR benefits 7,787 households after almost three years

The People’s Income Initiative programme has benefitted 7,787 households after nearly three years, says the Economy Ministry.

KUALA LUMPUR: The People’s Income Initiative (IPR) programme has benefitted 7,787 households after almost three years of implementation, according to the Economy Ministry.

The ministry said the programme, implemented to complement existing poverty eradication efforts, aims to address food security issues, create job opportunities and alleviate the cost-of-living burden on the people.

“After nearly three years of implementation, the IPR programme has received highly encouraging response and yielded impressive results. To date, 7,787 households have benefitted from this programme,” the ministry said in a written reply published on the parliament website yesterday (July 1).

According to the Economy Ministry, some participants have managed to earn a monthly income of more than RM2,000, thus helping to bring them out of the poverty trap.

The reply was in response to a question from Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (PN-Machang), who asked the ministry to state the results of the success and effectiveness of the IPR after almost three years of its implementation, as well as the use of the Main Data Base (PADU) in the country’s economic policy.

Regarding PADU, the ministry said 204 agencies have implemented continuous data sharing and integration with PADU.

“As of June 2026, 27 data sharing applications from government agencies have been approved for the implementation of programmes and policies for the purpose of improving the effectiveness of public service delivery, the interests of the people’s well-being, service digitisation innovation, as well as studies and research,” the ministry said.
