Nafuzi grateful to return as Terengganu FC head coach

Newly appointed Terengganu FC head coach Mohd Nafuzi Mohd Zain is grateful for the chance to return and lead the Turtles for the 2026/2027 season.

NEWLY appointed Terengganu FC (TFC) head coach Mohd Nafuzi Mohd Zain is grateful for the chance to return and lead the Turtles for the 2026/2027 season, which kicks off in August.

The Kota Bharu-born coach, who had long awaited the opportunity to return to TFC, said the club is an important part of his career.

“I am very grateful to be back after leaving Terengganu in 2022. I have always been determined to return here (Terengganu) one day.

“For me, TFC is a part of me. My career journey in Terengganu has been quite long… as a player, assistant coach, and head coach from mid-2019 until the 2022 season,” he said when contacted today.

Nafuzi said TFC, based at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium (SSMZA), have prepared for a tougher Malaysia League (M-League) campaign this season.

The former national Under-23 coach said he will use his experience outside Terengganu to build a stronger squad for the future.

“My thanks to the chairman and board of directors of TFC for their trust. Insya-Allah, I will make full use of my experience away from the state to guide TFC to the highest level.

“I realise the current situation is not the same as when I was here before. But Insya-Allah, I will do my best for the league. I hope to get support from all quarters, including the fans, to ensure the best results for the team,” he said.
