Johor BN chairman Onn Hafiz Ghazi thanks voters after coalition secures over 40 seats, urging unity to develop the state.
JOHOR BAHRU: Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has expressed his gratitude to Johoreans after the coalition claimed victory in the state election and secured a return to power.
Onn Hafiz, who is also Johor Umno chief, said BN’s success in winning at least 40 of the 56 contested seats would motivate the party to continue serving the people.
He also extended his appreciation to the party leadership, BN component parties and grassroots members for their dedication and efforts throughout the election campaign.
“To the newly elected assemblymen, a great responsibility now lies ahead in serving Bangsa Johor,” he said during a press conference here.
Onn Hafiz called on Johoreans to set aside their differences and unite in their efforts to develop the state.
“Let us set aside our differences and move forward together to build the Johor we have always envisioned,” he said.
A simple majority of 29 seats is required to form the Johor state government, while a two-thirds majority requires 38 seats. BN contested all 56 state seats in the election.
