Malaysia wins silver in women’s doubles bowling at Deaflympics

Malaysian bowlers Nor Misha and Huwainaa secure silver in women’s doubles at Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics, adding to nation’s growing medal tally

MALAYSIA’S bowling squad maintained its medal-winning form with a silver medal in the women’s doubles event at the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics.

The national pair of Nor Misha Nathera Mackery and Huwainaa Danduan Abdullah delivered a spirited performance at Higashiyamato Grand Bowl but fell to South Korea’s Lee Chanmi and Heo Seonsil.

The Malaysians lost 175-203 and 180-208 in straight frames during Friday’s final.

Despite the defeat, the duo demonstrated resilience throughout the competition and maintained Malaysia’s strong podium presence in bowling.

Their silver medal follows Malaysia’s first gold of the Games won just a day earlier by Syabil Azam Syamsul Azam and Ho Choon Seong in men’s doubles bowling.

The gold medal pair showed remarkable composure under pressure, posting scores of 243, 181 and 226 to defeat Ukraine’s Danyliuk Vadym and Ialovega Vladyslav 2-1.

That victory marked a historic breakthrough for Malaysia’s bowling contingent at the Deaflympics.

The Malaysian Deaf Sports Association (MSDeaf) has targeted three gold medals at this year’s Games.

Their specific focus remains on women’s doubles badminton, mixed doubles badminton and men’s team bowling events.

With Friday’s silver medal, Malaysia’s current tally stands at one gold, one silver and one bronze from mixed doubles badminton. – Bernama
