Minister Nancy Shukri says family institution shapes ethical society, with RM4 million allocated for Lelaki Budiman Programme and tax incentives for employers
KUCHING: The family institution is crucial for shaping an ethical and responsible society, according to Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
She said the government is committed to strengthening family institutions through policies, support programmes, and parenting education to address current challenges.
“Today’s children face numerous new challenges, from the influence of social media to emotional pressures that are not always visible,” she said at the closing ceremony of Kem Kasih Keluarga 2.0.
“Nevertheless, the family remains the primary source of protection,” she added.
Nancy highlighted the need for a holistic approach that includes improving parenting skills and fostering effective communication.
She also emphasized promoting positive discipline and offering community support for families.
Under the KASIH Keluarga Negara agenda in the 13th Malaysia Plan, the role of men in socio-economic development will be strengthened.
The Lelaki Budiman Programme has been allocated RM4 million to support this initiative.
Nancy introduced the Kebapaan module during the National Family Month launch on November 9.
The module emphasizes fathers’ roles as protectors, guides, and leaders of the family.
It is designed to help fathers balance work and family life while managing stress effectively.
“While no father is perfect, every father can be a source of strength and inspiration for their family,” she added.
The government is offering a 100% tax deduction for employers who organise family-oriented activities.
This incentive aims to foster a harmonious and productive work environment.
Eligible activities include family days, company sports events, and team-building programmes.
Employers can claim the deduction if they meet conditions including organising activities themselves and ensuring benefits reach all employees. – Bernama
