Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim holds bilateral talks with Kenya’s President William Ruto and leads business and education forums in Nairobi
NAIROBI: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a state-level welcome at Kenya’s State House, the official residence of President William Samoei Ruto.
The two leaders then held a bilateral meeting to strengthen ties between Malaysia and Kenya.
They witnessed the exchange of memoranda of understanding and cooperation documents following their discussions.
The agreements covered tourism cooperation and collaboration between Kuala Lumpur City Hall and Nairobi City Council.
Anwar also delivered a keynote address at the Malaysia-Africa Higher Education Forum in Nairobi.
He officiated at the Malaysia-Kenya High-Level Business Forum to promote economic partnerships.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz and Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Zaliha Mustafa.
Malaysian government officials and a business delegation also joined the visit.
Kenya is Malaysia’s third-largest trading partner in Africa with total trade reaching RM5.7 billion in 2024.
This represents a 1.2% increase from the RM5.51 billion recorded in the previous year.
Anwar concluded his three-country African tour and departed Nairobi for Malaysia later the same day. – Bernama
